This is a unique and rare “Presentation Frame,” because it is dated April 3, 1922, just two months after Pius XI became pope and when his signature looked different from how he signed throughout the rest of his reign.
It is in a presentation frame, a title given to an autographed photo when the frame itself is actually part of the gift.
The pope’s coat of arms is included, and this is characteristic of a presentation frame.
Because of the proximity to his recent election, his signature hadn’t even been fully developed, making this an unusual addition to this Collection.
