Letter Signed As Pope Leo XII, October 8, 1823

October 8, 1823. A calligrapher writes the first part which is as follows:

Mr. Prince, we could not to doubt of the sentiments of the especial jubilation for our election to the pontificate. Anyway, your letter, with which you have expressed your soul toward the Holy See and towards us, has been very dear and welcome. For this reason we have considered to express you our enjoyment with this private letter. And in the meantime we send you our affectionate Apostolic Blessings.

In Pope Leo’s own handwriting it says,

We want to add by our hand that we remember always the pleasure of ancient relations with the respected family, Borghese, and during our youthfulness, especially with your person who we desire heartfully to meet soon in Rome.
