These bronze and silver medals have the images of the newly canonized saints, John XXIII and John Paul II, on the front, and the coat of arms of Pope Francis on the reverse side.

Items such as these are always created by the Vatican as remembrances, or souvenirs, of auspicious occasions, such as canonizations, beatifications, Holy Years, etc.

Father Kunst purchased these at the Vatican when these two Popes were canonized on April 27, 2014.

The white leather case has the coat of arms of Pope Francis and his motto, Miserando atque eligendo, meaning lowly but chosen; literally in Latin by having mercy.

The outer cases have images of both canonized saints with information stating that these are the official medals minted for the occasion of their canonizations.

Only the silver medal is displayed.
