Blessed Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski: A 1979 Signed Letter Expressing Thanks with Pope John Paul II’s Historic Trip to Poland

The following signed letter from (now Blessed) Cardinal Wyszynski to Michal Szymborski is in response to the efforts that were made by him during Pope John Paul II’s historic trip to Poland in 1979.  

It was written just two weeks after the trip concluded and is significant because of its association with such an historical event that ultimately led to the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Additionally, it was written and signed by the recently beatified cardinal, one of the heroes of Poland and mentor to Pope St. John Paul II.   —-Father Richard Kunst, Curator

Translation of the Signed Letter

Warsaw, June 23, 1979

Dear Sir!

Thank you very much for all your efforts with all the difficulties in the Visit of Pope John Paul II for your good work in the time on his pilgrimage in our homeland.

May our efforts be a sign for us to support our Son from our country in his high position.
