Father Kunst of St. James Parish in Duluth has been to Rome many times, leading tours.
But this time, it just happens to also be a conclave. He reflected on that with us on Tuesday over FaceTime, with St. Peter’s Basilica behind him.
“It’s a great time to be here, as a papal historian,” he said. “There’s a lot of electricity, and the cardinals are out and about a lot. They are little celebrities, people love seeing them. And there’s so many media here.”
It’s been a separation of the time to mourn Pope Francis, and look forward to the future.
His group plans on attending a special mass with the cardinals, ahead of when they enter the conclave on Wednesday.
Kunst is urging people at home to pray for the cardinals, as they have a major decision ahead.
