A Book Belonging to the Cure d’ Ars, Dated 1837
A Life of St. Marie Magdelaine de Pazzi, by Fr. Cepari in Lyon, 1837.
The book belonged to St. Jean Vianney and has the red seal attesting to it with the date, August 5, 1861—“the second anniversary of the death of the divine priest.” (NOTE: He actually died on August 4th (not 5th), 1859.)
The stamp is accompanied with the message: “this book was for the use of Monseigneur Vianney, the venerable Cure of Ars.”
Above the red seal: To the author of the servants of God, Monseigneur L Aubineau.
NOTE: There really are “servants” in Ars.
