Papal Fiat
A fiat gives permission to a diocese, or religious order, or an individual for whatever is being requested. The Holy Father writes in his own hand, Fiat et Petut, meaning, “Let it be done according to Peter.”
This particular Fiat is initialed twice by Pope Clement XI: “JF” for Johannes Franciscus, which was his given name.
The fiat is an untranslated document with the “JS” initials, the common signature at the time.
The fiat was signed on November 5, 1720 and is an incredible addition to this Collection.
