A photo of Blessed Pius IX seated on the throne. It is undated and unsigned. Written in his own hand is a quote from Psalm 2, Why do the nations rage? It is only assumed that it has something to do with the Papal States that were taken over in 1870.
Directly below the quote is a wax seal. This is the seal of the person in charge of the papal household, whose coat of arms has in it the coat of arms of the Pope himself. This is clearly seen in the seal on this photo.
The coat of arms and black and white photo are quite beautiful with just a transcription of the Pope in his own hand quoting Psalm 2.
