An interesting fact about the cardinals of the Catholic church is that up until August 2019, there were 216 members of the College of Cardinals:
72 were created by Pope St. John Paul II,
72 by Pope Benedict XVI, and
72 by Pope Francis.
The October 5 consistory will change the dynamic shown above. 13 new cardinals from various parts of the world, ten of whom are eligible, age-wise, in another election, will bring the number created by Pope Francis to 85.
