Father Giovanni Montini Ordination: May 29, 1920
The Eucharistic mystery stands at the heart and center of the liturgy since it is the fount of life by which we are cleansed and strengthened to live not for ourselves but for God and to be united in love among ourselves. — Pope Paul VI
Papal Artifacts remembers with gratitude the gift of Giovanni Montini to the Church on the anniversary of his ordination in 1920. A man of great piety and intellect he offered his life in service to a church who eventually elected him her successor to St. Peter. In 1963 he became Pope Paul VI and reigned until 1978.
We rejoice with our Church over the canonization of Pope Paul VI on October 14, 2018. In February 2019 his feast day was changed from September to May 29–honoring his ordination day
