Benedict XVI: A Holy Card Printed On the Occasion of His Ordination and First Mass in 1951

Popes/Saints/Individuals: Benedict XVI

Benedict XVI

Categories: Documents | Souvenirs

Era: 2005-present

This holy card depicts an image of the Madonna and Child on one side.

The reverse side contains a small image of Joseph Ratzinger, the future Pope Benedict XVI, on the occasion of his ordination and his first Mass. It contains both the date and location as well as an inscription, from 2 Corinthians 1:24: Not that we lord it over your faith; rather, we work together for your joy, for you stand firm in the faith.

When priests are ordained, they nearly always have a holy card printed to commemorate both their ordination and their first Mass.
