The item is a silver rosary case given to Elisabeth L. Miller by Pope Pius XI. The face of the case has his coat of arms and the date. The reverse side has her name and the date engraved on it with the information that it is a gift from “His Holiness, Pope Pius XI.”
The pendant was meant to be worn. It is a lovely memento and an example of the type of gift given by the Holy Father.
